THUNDER BAY – An early-morning fire at a north side home left one resident with undisclosed injuries on Monday.
Firefighters were called to a house fire on Anten Street, near the intersection of Golf Links Road and John Street, around 3 a.m. on Monday, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue reported. A quick interior attack by the first arriving pumper helped contain the blaze to one area of the home, limiting fire damage, TBFR said.A TBFR spokesperson could not describe the nature or extent of the person’s injuries, but said they were not believed to be serious. The fire drew a response of five pumpers, an aerial ladder, and a command vehicle, after a second alarm was called, the TBFR said.
That included one that gutted a Wolesley Street home, and a vehicle fire on Strachan Cres. that was brought under control before it could damage the house it was parked next to, according to TBFR. The service reminded residents Monday to make sure smoke detectors are operating and they have a safety plan in place in case of fire.
