One employee was assessed by paramedics for minor smoke inhalation
Firefighters from multiple fire departments, including Hantsport, Brooklyn, and Windsor, responded to a fire at CKF Inc. in Hantsport on April 30, 2023. - FileHANTSPORT, N.S. — Upwards of 50 firefighters helped douse a fire at a manufacturing plant in Hantsport Sunday night, April 30.
“We stretched a line from the stand pipe system on the roof and fought the fire from the roof of the building.” “We got it knocked down fairly quickly,” said Maynard, adding they began searching for extension elsewhere in the building. “It is a very old building, heavy timber construction, so it’s always worrisome when we get a call down there,” said Maynard.
Eight fire departments answered the call — six were on scene while two provided standby coverage — and about 50 firefighters helped in the fire suppression and ventilation efforts. They were on scene until shortly after midnight.
