Raptors lean on O.G. Anunoby to wear out Luka Doncic and the Mavericks: ‘I think he’s gonna sleep good tonight’
They pile on the assignments — guard the best wing player on the opposing team, carry the offence when so many key pieces are missing — and he kind of shrugs his shoulders and goes about his business stoically, but in a determined fashion that sets him apart.and score enough to keep his depleted team rolling the scoreboard over. He got the assignment, fulfilled it and it’s on to the next game.
Dallas coach Jason Kidd trumpeted Anunoby’s chances for defensive player of the year, Mavericks forward Maxi Kleber said “he’s a threat at all levels” and Doncic, one of the most openly competitive players in the league, made it a point to stay back and help Anunoby up after knocking him to the court late in the game.
“He’s an amazing player, and I would say on both ends,” Doncic said. “I think he is the steals leader in the NBA, but offensively he got so much better. I’m impressed with his game; he’s an amazing player.”
