All Native tourney crowns Similkameen as Women’s champion
From the beginning of this year’s All Native Basketball Tournament both the Similkameen Starbirds and Haisla Ladies were on a mission.
Both teams were accomplishing their missions until they met each other on Thursday in a game that would send one of them to the final and the other to the elimination bracket. Coach Keith Nyce said he was happy with the semifinal performance as opposed to the first meeting with Similkameen during which the team couldn’t get anything to fall.
Montgomery, who will surely be part of the conversation for tournament MVP, reacted with a mixture of elation and relief.
