He had better things to do.
“We’re here for the Hall of Fame this weekend,” he said. “So, we’re going to focus on Alfie and the Sedins and those guys.” The current crop of young Senators provides hope now for the next generation of fans, but there have been far too many lean, ugly years lately, when the club was ridiculed around the NHL for its dysfunction.
“I think it’s so important,” said McDonald. ”You end up helping establishing a rich tradition and that is so richly deserved by Alfie after all of those years of, in some ways, carrying the Senators, and finding a way to get them all the way to the final . I know it didn’t finish off the way he would have liked it to, but to him and that city and what he has meant to the city outside of the game, it is so important.
