“We felt it right away,” Drover said of the chemistry, “like little things that we did in midget. We’d line up at a faceoff and I’d just give him a nod and he’d just know right away what’s happening. Drover was traded to the Rimouski Oceanic midway through the 2020-21 season and played 1 ½ seasons there before being cut in training camp this summer. He then hooked on with Medicine Hat, but the Tigers were looking for an overage defenceman so when one became available, the squad made the trade leaving Drover, who had two goals and two assists in six games with the Tigers, to explore his options.
“We know he’s going to be one of the top players in the league,” head coach and general manager Brandon Benedict said. “We really like what he brings to the table in terms of his on-ice and off-ice attributes.”
