Airdrie Rural RCMP is investigating a fatal collision that occurred north of Airdrie on Monday evening.
Police said an SUV turned north onto Highway 2A from Dickson Stevenson Trail when it was struck by a commercial vehicle that was heading south on Highway 2A.Story continues below advertisement
Police said the man driving the SUV, a resident of Crossfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman who was a passenger in the SUV was taken to hospital in stable condition, according to police. The semi-truck driver, a man in his 40s, was assessed at the scene but did not require transport to hospital.
An email from Airdrie Rural RCMP at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday said the area is closed to traffic and will be re-opened later Tuesday. The highway reopened before 4 p.m.— With files from Caley Gibson, Global News
