Defence, space, helicopters and commercial aircraft operations are all looking to hire, with recruitment needs centred around customer service, engineering, information technology, production and quality, Airbus said. Two-thirds of the new staffers will work in support functions, with one-third in production.
Airbus is aiming to allocate one-third of the positions to young graduates and early-career professionals, Schultz said. The company also wants to earmark one-third of new hires and promotions for women, he said. Together with its subsidiaries, Airbus operates 10 production sites and offices across Canada. Besides the A220 facility, key locations include Stelia Aerospace’s Mirabel plant, with about 600 people, and a helicopter factory in Fort Erie, Ont., with about 250 employees.
