The smoke is particularly bad in Greater Victoria and the Southern Gulf Islands.
Vancouver Island is under a haze of wildfire smoke Sunday and air quality is considered high risk for some regions.
While several wildfires are burning on the Island — including a handful near Port Alberni and two near Duncan — B.C. Wildfire said the smoke is coming from a cluster of large fires on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border. Environment Canada said Greater Victoria and the Southern Gulf Islands are hardest hit by the smoke, but there could be a brief reprieve overnight.
But Li noted that the coming week will likely remain dry and warm until Friday, when some rain is expected in the region. It could be hazy on and off until then.
