Greater Sudbury was one of the first cities to sign onto federal government child-care initiative
Greater Sudbury is one the first cities in Ontario to sign onto the federal government’s Canada- wide Early Learning and Child Care initiative.
More than 2,000 local children qualify for the new $10-dollar-a-day regulated child care initiative. Families of children under the age of six in Sudbury will see savings of more than $12 million annually as the full effects of the program kicks in. For families with two children in daycare under the age of six, these savings can amount to more than $12,000 annually.
“Families in Greater Sudbury have started to receive their rebates for child care expenses, retroactive to April 1, 2022 and they are absolutely thrilled,” said Tracy Saarikoski, executive director of Discovery Early Learning & Care.
