Minister Jennifer Whiteside sent a Thursday letter to council asking to meet “directly and urgently to discuss your concerns and potential solutions.”
Campbell River council is delaying a new bylaw to prohibit public drug use in order to meet with B.C.’s minister of Mental Health and Addictions.
The city withdrew plans for an earlier bylaw against public drug use and developed a new version based on the Community Charter, which permits municipalities to make rules around nuisances and disturbances.
