Member of European Parliament: 'Israeli Aggression' in Property Purchases in Cyprus [Roim] News

A Cypriot Member of the European Parliament claims that Israel is taking over Cyprus (Roim) through aggressive real estate purchases and large-scale development projects, while an Israeli diplomat dismisses these claims as anti-Semitic and unfounded.

حذر برلماني في قبرص الرومية من أن إسرائيل تحاول"الاستيلاء" على الجزيرة من خلال شراء العقارات والأراضي، وفق إعلام محلي. وذكرت صحيفة"يديعوت أحرونوت"، الاثنين، أن عضو البرلمان الأوروبي عن قبرص الرومية فيدياس بانايوتو، قال، الأحد، إن"إسرائيل تستولي على قبرص من خلال التوسع العدواني في شراء العقارات ومشاريع تطوير الأراضي واسعة النطاق". وردّ سفير إسرائيل لدى قبرص الرومية، أورين أنوليك، في منشور على منصة شركة"إكس" الأمريكية، مدعيا:"لاحظنا مؤخرًا محاولاتٍ لتصوير الاستثمارات والوجود الإسرائيلي في قبرص بصورة سلبية وتهديدية" وفق مزاعمه.

وأقر بأن"آلاف العائلات ورجال الأعمال والمهنيين الإسرائيليين اختاروا قبرص موطنًا ثانيًا لهم"، تحت ذريعة"حبهم وتقديرهم الصادقين للجزيرة وثقافتها". وزعم السفير الإسرائيلي أن"خطابا يستهدف جنسيةً بعينها، ويشكك في شرعية مجتمع ملتزم بالقانون، ويستخدم مصطلحات مثيرة للجدل مثل ’الاستيلاء’ أو ’النفوذ غير المنضبط’، أمرٌ يدعو للقلق البالغ"، وفق تعبيراته. وأضاف زاعما:"عندما يستغل الخطاب السياسي الصور النمطية القديمة المتعلقة بـ’القوة الاقتصادية الأجنبية’ لإثارة الخوف، فإنه يدخل في منطقة خطرة".

وادعى أن"هذا الخطاب، الذي يستهدف الشعب اليهودي ودولته من خلال ترديد أساطير تاريخية ضارة عن الهيمنة الاقتصادية، يغذي معاداة السامية"، وفق تعبيراته. ودون أن يحدد عدد أفرادها، قال السفير الإسرائيلي:"إن الجالية الإسرائيلية في قبرص ليست منعزلة، بل تضم آباءً وأمهاتٍ يرتاد أبناؤهم المدارس المحلية، ورواد أعمال"، ادعى أنهم"يوفرون فرص عمل للقبارصة، ويحرصون على ازدهار الجزيرة". ودعا السفير الإسرائيلي، القادة السياسيين والشخصيات المؤثرة وعامة الشعب في قبرص الرومية، إلى نبذ ما أسماه"الخطاب التحريضي والمثير للفتنة"، وفق تعبيراته.
